Items that didn't arrive before Christmas - what are my rights?

Options
Both items are from John Lewis

The first was a festive tablecloth which was supposed to be for use on Christmas Day. Never arrived. It was a charge & send to my home from the Edinburgh store and I paid P&P on top of the price. Its now reduced in their online sale (but sold out in the size I'd ordered) I'll give them a call tomorrow about it (I assume they are open?!) But not really sure what my rights are.
I will be able to use it next year but not happy that its after christmas, now reduced anyway, had to pay P&P and also the matching paper napkins I bought at full price in the Aberdeen store (also now in the sale) were effectively useless without the cloth.

My other potential issue with them is over 2 hampers. There may not actually be an issue but I am concerned that I have had no acknowledgement from the recipient - which is very unusual so I suspect they may not have received them. If this is the case what are my rights? Again I will phone them tomorrow and all may be well and it has arrived...

Thanks In Advance

Did you ring them? Probably no-one knows what your rights are. Certainly worth a phone call. They may do something as a gesture of goodwill.
Also, surely it must be worth asking the recipients of the hampers if they have received them and if not, follow up with JL.
  • You're covered by distance selling regulations for the tablecloth assuming your ordered online and it does arrive - you can send it back within 7 days of receipt for a refund. If it never comes then ask JL for a refund. If the hampers weren't delivered then John Lewis customer service is generally very good so I would contact for a refund - once you've checked they didn't arrive at the recipients' addresses. With stores like JL it's fairly unlikely you'll have problems obtaining a refund in the event of non delivery.
