Japanese Futon

Having read various reviews about the traditional futon, and very much this one ( www DOTeverydayminimalist DOT com/?p=759 ) I have decided I wish to buy a futon.
The cheapest I can find is £238 here ( tatami dot co.uk ) which is incredibly expensive for what it is.

Hopefully I can draw on the searching power here to find one at a better price.

MANY THANKS:T

I'm so used to seeing Futons that are nothing like real Japanese Futons, that I was very surprised to see that your link actually shows real Japanese futons! Can everyone who has a bed with a folding wooden base and calls it a "Futon" please look at this link.

£238 is about what I paid for mine, many years ago.

Cheers. Shame I don't know anyone going to Japan anytime soon or any Japanese websites that will export.

Can you tell me, what is your experience with futons?

I liked them. Comfortable, warm, and you can roll them up in the morning and put them up on the cupboard. Mine was a fairly good one. My partner doesn't like the idea and wouldn't even try one. But I've also used them in hotels etc. while travelling, and found them good too.

Have you tried looking in one of the big Japanese stores in London. E.g. the one out at Colindale, or the big one (assuming it's still there) down the hill from Piccadilly circus? Ooops, Colindale one not there, but there is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Plaza

Piccadilly one is: http://www.qype.co.uk/place/311142-Mitsukoshi-London, I think.
