in England
we want a cheapo few days away in february half term, and having heard so many positive things about the place from friends we thought we'd give Liverpool a visit.
other than the fact that it was the home of the beatles, has a dock and won city of culture i know nothing about the place so am a bit stumped as to what we can do to pass the time.
I haven't booked travel (train) or hotel (probably premier inn) yet, but imagine we will be there for 2 nights at the most.
so what is there to do? we are quite game for touristy things such as tours, museums etc.

There's loads to see on the Albert Dock (The Beatles Museum and Tate Liverpool alone will fill a day, they're great).
A bus ride away is Speke Hall, a National Trust property which is interesting. There are guided tours and from there you can also go to the childhood homes of Lennon & McCartney. This is the only way to go inside, as other tours are not allowed - they just stop outside. The curator of McCartney's house looks spookily like him so it's hard not to giggle.
There's a theatre called the Everyman (I think) which happened to have a really great show on when I went up.
Masses to do, and it's a lovely city to get around easily on foot. The only time I used transport was to get from coach station to Youth Hostel and back, and to do the Speke / Beatles houses trip.0 -
