I've never been on the actual flylady site, i only ever use the thread on this forum so i dont actually know what the 'babysteps' are. Have a look at the flylady thread on here, its very motivating and everyone is lovely on it. My house is certainly a darn sight cleaner than it was before i started doing it. And dont worry if you fall off, you can just get right back on again:D

    Hello G&B. Hi Electra King.

Have to say i used to be a fly lady that tried to do the emails but I wasn't overly successfully.

I much prefer to fly with the ladies and occasionally the gentleman on here.
Why not come over to the thread and see.

We just have a little (??) list to do and many of us just try to do as much as we can.

Hope to see you over there. Here is the link if you want it. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=962671

    Thanks for the replies.
Sorry Penny I did not know there was another thread:o

I have had a look at the weekly thread (and read the intro) but I am a bit confused. Firstly it only covers Monday - Thursday. What happens on Friday is it our day off :rotfl: Only joking! The only problem is how and when to start. If I start tomorrow what will I do? Do I make a list of the Morning and Night Routines first. Sorry if I am making this complicated. :o

I found flylady back in 2003.

    pre-flylady:
I spent £100+ a week on food (£90 of that on takeaways)
my house was a mess - we could not physically get up the stairs to, let alone in, the attic

    Now:
I have a large calendar in the kitchen (one with room to write in the boxes) and we menu plan. We'll write our menu in for each day and plan our weekly shopping trip after checking freezers and cupboards for things we already have. Of course we had to build up a store cupboard at first (one tin of beans and some cracker bread really didn't go very far).
I make my bed everyday (with fluffy mini pillows and throws), rather than leave it in a crumpled heap.
I'll attack one room each day (except sundays): dust from ceiling to floor, throw out rubbish, put things away then vacuum.
Laundry is washed on Friday night and hung on airers over night, (hung outside to finish on Saturday if weather's nice) and folded ready for ironing. Sunday afternoon I like to watch films and cos I don't mind ironing whilst watching TV I'll do the ironing (normally only about 12 items to iron). these are aired and put away by the end of the programme (even a 30 minute comedy).

I don't spend more than 15 minutes in total each day doing housework, sure the house isn't perfect BUT it's getting better.

    Penny,
Sorry I misunderstood I thought you posted the whole list at the beginning of the week not added to it daily :o you must think me stupid and you are probably right!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    cat4772,
Did you start from scratch, so to speak or join the weekly thread on here? 15 minutes a day is such a short length of time, I envy you. When I do attempt to do any kind of housework it usually takes all day.

    Hi Electra King,

do come over and see us. It's a lot of fun - my, I never thought I'd say that about doing housework!

I can't say that it will only take 15 minutes a day, but once you've done a few weeks you'll find that it takes much, much less time than it used to.

I think the key is to remember that there are two categories: 1) Dailies - these may be washing up, quick whisk round the kitchen, putting in a load of washing, airing and then making the beds - the sort of things you have to do every day, and probably don't even think about all that much. 2) Proper cleaning - this is the bit that is split into different levels.

Now that I have done this for 18 months, I can clean most rooms to level three in 30-60 minutes. It has worked for me because I have now cleared most of the clutter, I'm gradually adding the right storage for our belongings,so I don't have to tiday before I can clean, and focusing my efforts on one room a day means I can achieve more.

It's more motivating when I know that others are doing the same, especially the half hour challenges when we're all doing what we can in 30 minutees and reporting back! Great for those days when I really can't be bothered.

Just jump in tomorrow on Frriday - unless the thought of the kids' rooms fills you with horror, then start again on the new thread on Monday. (List posted Sunday evening, with a link)

Be warned though Electra if you are anything like most of us lot then you will spent longer on the computer than doing your housework :D
