Scooter Covers

I know this will not be of interest to most of you, but if you have a scooter it just might be, particularly as the heavens begin to open once more.

I was looking for a scooter leg/seat cover for my Vespa ET2 and saw the Tucano Urbano cover that some people were using.

Being an MSEer I checked online for the best prices and was horrified that it was being sold for about £100 everywhere.

I monitored eBay for ages and thankfully have got myself one for about £70 but this was the only one for that price.

I checked again today and somebody is selling them for £80 inc. P&P which is the best price I have seen them for anywhere.

For the record I have no connection with this seller and take no responsibility for his trustworthiness; I'm just trying to be helpful to fellow Scooting-MSErs and to save the odd wet bottom and cold legs this winter!

Enjoy

Oh, scooters. I used to love my Vespas and Lambretta in the mid to late 1980's and the fun we had on runs.

If it wasn't for how many other car drivers treat motorcyclists, I'd have another tomorrow.
One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.

This Argos link is for a mobility scooter and is a cover that you use when the scooter is not in use. You can get these much cheaper with aquick Google search.

The original link is for a cover that a rider can use for their legs when the scooter is being ridden and is fitted to the scooter when not in use to cover the seat so it is not wet when you get on (assuming, of course, that it is raining...). They really are excellent (but much more expensive) - worth it if you get a couple of extra months' use from your scooter I think.

Whilst not everybody's cup of tea, I wanted one of these because I needed something to cover my suit trousers when I rode to work in the rain in the morning. I was really annoyed when I turned up soaked to work. I was contemplating a fly screen but these wouldn't protect you completely. When I went to Paris I saw loads of bikes with these covers and thought they were pretty cool as you can leave them to protect your seat (what else do you really need protecting?) and they are made of a really good thick, water resistant material with fur lining. I am chuffed to bits with mine.

I accept however that they are a lot more expensive than a stand alone cover but I cannot wear one of those on my way to work. It was because of the expense that I kept a look out for the cheaper covers and despite already having one I think it is a great investment.

I don't know if you live in London, but loads of people have them here (i.e. several of the bikes in the bays in London that I use by my work have them too now that I have spotted them).

Granted though - it would be cheaper to have a blanket and a £15 cover, but its a question of horses for...well, scooters, I suppose!!:rotfl:
