Wishing to let my property...just a couple of questions?.

Folks, I'm hoping to rent out my one bed flat and have received back from 'Nationwide' a form called 'Requirements for temporarily letting your property'. There's a couple of things I need clearing up.

1) They require written evidence confirming that the freeholder has given permission for the letting and that request to let may be declined if this is not received.
The management company who collect the ground rent will not release contact details for the freeholder to me.

Does anyone think this could be a problem for me?.

2) The letting terms also state 'If you currently have an additional borrowing application in progress we will not consent to you letting the property until this application is completed or cancelled'.

Does this mean if you already have a further advance on your mortgage already or if you're just applying for any more borrowing?.

Anybody work in mortgages or has gone down the letting route already?.

Thanks

You can find the freeholder from the land registry for the cost of £4 - but the management company can proivde the permission on his/her/their behalf anyway.

Are you trying to raise a mortgage on another property ?

  • No, I'm not applying for a new mortgage. Its just I'm unsure as to whether you are allowed to let out the property if you have a further advance currently running.
Its the way they've worded their requirements that isn't that clear to me.

Off topic, but if your username is after the 90s indie/shoegazing band then good choice :)
  • They simply want to know if you are in the process of new applications for credit that they are not aware of - if it is already in place (and declared) it should not be an issue.

Hi, your lease should state whether or not you are allowed to let your flat.
