Help, boiler pilot light has just started cutting out

Family arriving any minute now and boiler has become temperamental.
It was working fine earlier and then we noticed that although the boiler was on, the rads werent hot
So we look at the boiler, which is a combi, SIME friendly format 100 and the red light next to the pilot light symbol is on.
So we deduce that the light isnt on. We set it to 'summer' as advised by the manual for setting up the boiler from the start, and the light comes on when you run the tap or put the heating on, but then only stays on for about 10 seconds and then goes off and then the red light comes on to say theres a problem.
Xmas Eve!!!!! I cant believe it,, what can we do, if anything. If we cant fix it ourselves, we'll wait until after xmas but obviously we are worried about frozen pipes and we will be cold!

thanks, yes, we checked the flu and wondered about the wind but the problem is that the wind had died down a bit and the red light indicates that the pliot light has gone out, the gas and pilot light went on for a bit but then comes off again. thank goodness we have an electric shower, but its the heating thats a problem, thankfuly because there are so many people here everyone feels hot. OH has not told his children that the heating doesnt work yet! they moan at the best of times that the house is cold!0
