    Just to clarify

Every PCT (Primary Care Trust) has the local decision on whether to provide a Minor Ailments Services to its residents. (aka Care at the Chemist or Pharmacy First)

The ailments that can be treated differ from area to area. Some areas have very large formularies, some have very little.

The scheme is particularly benefically if you don't pay for prescriptions. The medication supplied wouldn't be cost effective, if you paid for prescriptions (Currently £7.20).

The brands supplied are normally the same, as the ones supplied on NHS prescriptions, so Calpol isn't very likely now (As they have discontinued the dispensing pack).

    Hopefully this Helps!

But consult your local pharmacist for a leaflet, which will show you the ailments that can be treated in your local area.

Hi Hi, i've just spent 20 minutes on the phone to Boots!! The very pleasant lady on the phone was having trouble finding any information about this service which she though was a great idea!! Now, she eventually got hold of the pharmacist from the Hanley, Stoke store who was also great - and very efficient!!!

This could be very useful to me as i use Boots in Hanley for my monthly repeat prescriptions.
