Currently in Homebase - FREE REAL CHRISTMAS TREES, large ones!

Was in my local Homebase this afternoon and they had loads of real Christmas trees, from about 6 foot to 8 foot, I'd estimate, completely FREE! :j They looked like really good ones too. Judging by past Homebase Christmas sales, the chances are that many Homebase stores will be doing this. The particular store this was in was Wellingborough (near Northampton). Also loads of lights, decorations etc. at big discounts.

Loads of free trees at Homebase Nottingham this afternoon. Various sizes up to about 6 feet.

Got a very nice Nordman Fir (originally £29.99) to decorate and put outside in a tub. No roots though so will only last as long as the cold weather.

  • My sister & I picked one up from the Homebase in Altrincham early this afternoon.

We were just leaving the store when a a nearby staff member noticed us taking a look at the trees by the exit - he asked if we were after a tree, and if so, feel free to take one - as they're free!
Good specimen too; 6foot tall & comparable to the one we paid £35 for 2 weeks ago.

Not sure what we're going to use it for... it seems rather extravagant having two xmas trees in the house!
Incidentally, they still had lots left at the Alty store!
  • Big thumbs up for Homebase real trees. Bought ours 2 weeks ago and haven't seen it drop at all yet (we have wooden floors so when it does drop it'll be obvious!).

  • I bought a 5ft Nordman Fir two weeks ago from Homebase and within 1 week it had started to drop needles really badly. I emailed them and they just said sorry. It seems that hiding behind Emails and saying 'Sorry' has now taken the place of customer service.

2 weeks later and someone suggested I tweet Homebase, as the tree now does not have enough needles on it to hold the decorations on. I was told if I take it back to the store, they will replace it. Like I have time now to strip it down, take it back and start all over again with a new tree.

Now I know why they offered that, because they are giving them away free. My tree is the centre-piece of my christmas as I have no family and tend to spend it alone (happily), but it's all gone a bit flat with my decorations and half the tree on the floor.
