When do you get your fresh turkey?

We ordered a free range turkey, which we were told to pick up last night. Is that not very soon? Will it not be off by Saturday? My mum said that the butcher already has his in as well. How long to they keep? We got a supermarket one last year, and took it out on xmas morning and it was off.
On another note, whats the best way of storing it. The man we got it from said if it was in the fridge, take it out of the bag, but if we were keeping it in the garage, to leave it in the bag. whats best? its easily -10 all day here at the minute, so I am worried it could freeze in the garage.

Mine was delivered today, in a polystyrene box. I'm keeping mine in the garage but our temperatures are not as low as that.0

Yeah I asked the butcher that and he assured me it would be ok. I thought it was a bit early. Ohh hope it isn't off. Fingers crossed.0
