Having a bad debt free day

As the title says I am feeling quite low today about my debt free journey:(
I know that there is light at the end of the tunnel eventually but it feels like a carp life at the moment if you know what I mean. I am grateful that I have learned how to budget better and not to get a "bargain" when i can't actually afford it etc but sometimes I just wish that I didn't have to make excuses as to why we can't do xyz to our friends because the truth is that we can't afford it:o
I have realised today that we will no longer be able to afford swimming lessons for our children and this is a real blow as they were making great progress:(:(
Looking forward to 2011 on my monthly spreadsheets money is slightly better but if interest rates go up I just don't know what we'll do:(:(:(:( (mortgage is on a tracker)
We have no savings and spend £200 or less per month on food to feed our whole family, we only use our cars for work/schoolrun and are only paying the minimum payments as it is, Our only "luxury" is Sky which is £19 per month and if we get rid of this aswell it will be yet another blow for both us and the children.
Sorry just feel really down about it all today

Chin up Bubby, as you said there is light at the end of the tunnel. Just remember that you're doing this so that you can have a debt free life which equals a better life for you and your children. Things WILL get better.
Wishing you and your family a happy, peaceful Christmas.0 -
I think we all have days like that.
I'm guessing you've already done an SOA etc and had some good advice?
Wish I knew better things to say but big hugs and things will get better xxxDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Hi - is it worth reposting your SOA and see if anyone can spot any savings etc?
Apart from that perhaps you can have a mortgage holiday for a few months to crack some of the debts? this will then hopefully reduce the minimum payments etc.
I wish I had some better ideas.
Good Luck

Yes I did one when I had a different user name and it was really helpful, we are like one of those "secretly poor" families, we have a nice house (no equity) and nice cars (not worth selling due to age) I know we WILL get there in the end but its hard I guess at this time of year when everyone is "splashing out" on nice food etc and we are still eating the same stuff! Its funny I used to be so flippant about money and always wanted better this and that but the one thing I will jump for joy at is being able to buy food that we like not just because its on offer:rotfl:0 -

Thanks but we can't have a mortgage holiday, however we are going to see a broker in January to see if we could possibly get a better deal (doubt it as its only 4%) but worth a try.0 -
could you sell something? even small things add up0

at least you have your OH with you and your children are loved..Quite a few of us are facing tough times at the moment and life is a bit grim but try to think about the control you will have over your life once you are out of debt.LTSB credit card 22% now... £1677
work 0%............................£300
Sister 0%...........................£1400
Inland revenue....................£208
I owed £18000 in 2005:eek:0 -

I am going to give Ebay a go:obikerfrenzy wrote: »at least you have your OH with you and your children are loved..Quite a few of us are facing tough times at the moment and life is a bit grim but try to think about the control you will have over your life once you are out of debt.
Yes I do feel quite selfish letting my debts get me down, I realise that there is much more to life than money:o:o:o
You can prob get a better deal. Theres lots of tracker products that are lower than what you are on. Some are for 2 years or so for around 3 %. Maybe look at some fixed rates if your concerned rates will explode upwards. IMO if they do go up soon, I think it will prob only be by .25%'s at a time.
Good luck
Thanks, hopefully we will be able to get a slightly better deal:)0 -

Why not sell up and buy a smaller house, or a similar house in a cheaper area?0
