New Year, New "Realistic" budget for a London Girl

Hello! Another single girl in London here! I try and live on £50 a week which is for food & other miscellaneous spends, but to be honest, it doesn't go that far. But even knowing I've wasted £200 a month with essentially nothing to show for it, I feel it is too much.. Despite having been in debt in the past (£19,000!) and having paid it off, then running up a bit more, then paying that off, it is still easy to slip back into old ways and I find the minute you take your eye of the ball, all hell breaks loose! Using plastic doesn't feel like I am spending money and have just had a shock reading through the entries on my credit card statement, so am reigning the belt in again, taking lunches to work, and not keeping my local pizza place in business because I have no food in the house and am too lazy to go food shopping! (This has only been lately, otherwise you must be wondering how I managed to clear my debt!). xx0

I think your budget sounds reasonable. I think I spend around that.
Just a thought - there is so much to do in London without spending a fortune! In the summer, I love doing the globes £5 standing tickets, and all year round there are so many free concerts in churches and at universities. The BBC also has lots of recording evenings you can go to for free, so sign up for their email alerts. The Venezuelan embassy near my office even does free salsa lessons on tuesdays!
And the solution to the pricey drinks is of course the magnificent sam smiths pubs, which among the most beautiful in the city. A drink at the stunning Princess Louise or Citie of Yorke right in the middle of town will only set you back around £2.50, and their bitter is fantastic.Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000
