hi Amy
plenty of people have been stung by this sort of thing on here
sad to sayt you are not alone
How come you ended up with the debt though
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
i was only on 10k a year and he was on 30k and 60k in debt unknown to me and he influenced me to have overdrafts and credit cards and made me feel guilty if i did not keep up...... i worked out he had been cheating on me cos he was stallin me moving in even though i was paying rent on my place but also the mortgage which was 100 miles away so i was about to leave everything behind!!!! so we split but i still gotta pay off the stuff like the bed, sofas and all the stuff i paid for on borrowed moneyOfficial DFW Nerd number 227

Hi ya and welcome
Just saw your other thread on wanting a mortgage. Dows this mean you don't actually pay a mortgage at the moment? If the things are at his address, is there anyway you can get them back and perhaps sell them (not if you are on HP agreements though!)?
Leason learnt :beer:0 -
he basically had this women move in within a month of the split and with the 100 miles in between and me being on shifts it dont make things easy and he moved without tellin me and sold the place and chucked my stuff and got married all pretty quick!!! i find out that her parents paid off his 60k debt and bought them new house now as well!!!Official DFW Nerd number 227

i wouldn't worry if he's got into 60k theres a very very strong chance he will get himself in the same problems all over again!

Was it just the mortgage in joint names ? If the house was bought in joint names then you're entitled to your share of the proceeds of sale.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

Hi Amy! :hello:
Two things jump out at me from your post!
Firstly you're 22 and secondly you're single!

But seriously welcome aboard and sorry to hear about your ex being an a$$hole.
Well done on getting you're debt down though! :T
If you post a SOA (details here) we might be able to help you further.

Sorry, your posts are very confusing. From the sounds of it, the mortgage was never yours, was never in your name so you're not entitled to any of the sale proceeds (if the house was being sold). If you were contributing to the mortgage (by paying rent) then you do have some legal claim to a share of the house (unless the arrangement was that you were paying rent?). You'll probably need to speak to a lawyer about this.
From what I can gather, your 14K of debt is overdrafts and loans that you've taken out. (It doesn't matter if you were "coerced" into signing them - if you signed for them and they're in your name, then it's your debt).
I think it would help if you posted a full SOA (statement of affairs) so we can see all your incomings and outgoings. It's hard to advise without seeing this information.0 -
Doesn't matter whose name was on the mortgage for who gets the money from the house, it's the name(s) on the deeds that are impiortant.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
