Hi everyone, how are we all? Hope everyone is doing well and had a productive day, hugs to all who need them.
Snow? Wow, this weather really is unpredictable isn't it. Well done on getting to payout level on doovous rufus and elysia, must try harder to fit in some review time, things are so busy here at the moment.
As promised, here are the the pics of todays cake making. I haven't made cakes for about 10 years so I am pleased for a first attempt. These are the hummingbird bakery vanilla cupcakes, with my own take as the recipe made nowhere near enough icing to copy their design. And I must say I need lessons in icing, it IS much harder than it looks!

Mswan - don't worry about dooyou - it takes ages for your points to expire, so you can take your time. Do one a week and they will soon mount up.

Did you see what I posted above about shopping.com? I've written mine (you only have to do five - no copying and pasting doyou's ones though, it's not allowed). They are so easy to write - it literally takes a couple of minutes. The hard bit is finding something you are able to review - it has yellow stars by it if you can. They take two days to go on the site - this is so they can spell check them and check they are your own work. Payment should be around 21st.
They have to be fifty words long and not 20 like I said in my previous post. Go on - give it a try.
Savvy - super cakes. :T I could just eat one of those now. I have a little space left over from dinner.
Legend - Oh no!!! I hope OH is ok - they'll soon have him sorted. At least they caught it though, they sent my nephew home five times from hospital, when he had it. I didn't think they believed him because it was Christmas - they thought he'd eaten too many chocs or something.
I watched the internet clips but I haven't watched the DVD yet  - thanks for reminding me. I haven't had the link to the survey though. Very strange. :cool:I :heartpuls M.S.E.

I have had a go at writing a review on shopping but has anyone else had trouble with it. I filled in all the sections, wrote 180 words but every time I hit submit is says please fill in required sections. I know i definately filled everything in though. Wont even let me save as draft.
Also could not see where it said you get paid for these reviews. Is it only so many people will get it Elysia do you know? Could not see any mention of it on their site.
Hope everyone is ok. Sorry I have not been on here for a few days but so much going on at the moment and I am still in lots of pain so not been on the comp as much.
Legend - sorry your ds is so poorly, give him a big hug form me hope he is better soon
hugs to anyone else who needs them.0 -
oh savvybunny those cakes look SOOOOOOO YUMMY! Wish I was your neighbour Id be knocking on inviting myself for a cuppa haha
sparkleychel : thank you
legend : I hope everything is ok with your OH and DS is feeling a little better today.
Well back at work today and really stuggled for the first couple of hours. Having spent 3 days in bed I realised how weak I still was! But I managed to get through the day
. Also just managed to complete a Toluna survey without being screened out which is good.
Going to do my to do list for tomorrow. I rang an adult careers service yesterday and they were great and really helpful. I think part of my reluctance is my fear of not succeeding so I am going to apply for some jobs that I feel confident with rather than statistics ones I think. Seen 2 great payroll ones but not sure if you need experience for this so going to ring tomorrow and speak to them. Problem is one of the closing dates is today but its still worth a shot (only just seen it!). I have a very strategic, problem solving mind being a maths graduate and I work in the admin/cash office and deal with pay queries in one of the my part time jobs but I dont do the bit on the system. I can only ring and ask though and hopefully charm them haha Only problem is I dont have a CV I could send right away! So think I might have a quick gander at that now. Have to dig out that old record of achievement from high school haha
How has everyones day been? Is everyone feeling the after effects of the pancakes? hehe0 -
Thanks for the heads up re shopping.com Elysia. Good deal on Group on today if anyone uses it.
Be careful when using Group On though as all is not always what it seems. I have reviewed them on Dooyoo : )0 -
twinklelitlestar : I have never had a problem posting a review with them before. Havent tried for this promotion yet though. Maybe just save it in word and try again tomorrow? If you go on their facebook page the details are on there and just comment on the wall saying you have done your five reviews and your username and then Stuart (who runs the facebook page) will know. Hes really helpful if you have any questions or problems. Also it is paid via paypal to the email address you have registered with on shopping so make sure it is your paypal one or if not add that email to paypal.0

Twinkle - I did that too. Go into where it says 'my shopping' (top right) - you may find it's already posted, mine had. I tried for half an hour to re-post and it was there all the time. ETA: if it hasn't posted, when you re-fill in all the sections, put another space in the title, and then delete it - you need it to say 7 words or however many you have underneath.
It's a bit of a faff - but I made £10 in under an hour - it would have been half that, if that one survey didn't play up!!!
Only the first 300 people will be paid, but as it's only been running for a couple of days, if you do it sharpish, we should be ok - usually these promotions last as long as 500 people write and have lasted five or six weeks before so we should be ok.
All payments get sent via paypal - if your email you signed up with isn't the one linked to your paypal account, you have to change it to that one.
Here's the details pasted from the blog:
Spring is coming, it’s time to kick back, grab your ‘flip’ HD video camera, and get into director mode ready for the summer.
All you have to do is write 5 reviews for Shopping.com UK. The best five reviews by one person wins a Flip Ultra pocket camcorder.
But if you don’t win you still get paid £10 for the 5 reviews. There’s only catch is we only have two weeks and cash for 300 reviews , so it’s on a ‘first come, first served basis’.
If the 300 review mark is reached first the news will be posted on this blog, and on the Shopping.com UK Facebook Page to ensure no further reviews are eligible for the competition.
The winner of the 5 best reviews will be notified by email following judging by Shopping.com UK staff, within 7 days of the end of the promotion.
Reviews should be at least 50 words, and include no spelling mistakes.
The promotion runs from Monday 7 March to Monday 21 March, at 5pm or when 300 reviews have been written, which ever is reached first.
Each individual author can contribute a maximum of 5 reviews for payment under this promotion, and a chance to win the Flip camera prize.
ETA: I've just noticed it says per 300 reviews and not people - I just presumed it was people as it usually is, so if you're going for it - you'd best hurry.I :heartpuls M.S.E.

Kirsty - thanks for the heads up about Group on. I'll take a look at that survey. I was wary of using them. It'll be nice to hear someone else's point of view.
Giggles - if you're having a go at the shopping reviews thingy - you'd best hurry. It's only 300 reviews, and not people, like I first thought.
I had my panakes for lunch. DD2 and OH had Aunt Bessies last night, and DD1 and I didn't fancy them, so she made American style ones for lunch. Light and fluffy. Yum. I had lemon juice and sugar on one and Nutella on the other.
She'd seen Saturday Kitchen on well, Saturday LOL. and they cooked some pancakes and filled them with banana and bacon - sounds gross to me, but she wanted to try it. I :heartpuls M.S.E.
