Washing machine won't spin.

Hi all.
I'm hoping someone can help.
Our washing machine has started to not like spinning.

The washing machine acts normally until its time to do a fast spin when it doesn't do anything, it just stops. Very occasionally it will, but 99 times out of a 100 it doesn't.

Has anybody got any clues to why or is it a repairman/new machine job?
Thanks
Chris.

Check the fluff filter - if it hasn't been cleaned for a while and is full of gunk then that could prevent the machine from spinning (well it did with mine - I blame the cats given that it's their hairs that clog up the filter so quickly!)

Similar thing happened to daughters machine... cleaning the filter revealed a small sock and hair clip, once cleared the machine was fine, so have you checked the filter for starters?

  • Have you cleaned out the filter? Mine used to stop if the filter was blocked. It's probably on the front of the machine, it will be full of water though so find a plastic tub or similar to catch the water....

This is usually worth a try.

also try the water level/pressure switch. usually like a bellows shaped device with a tube on it.
take off the tube and blow down it. that often works.
