I also used to work for Provident. If you know the agent and do not find it wasy talking to her about your problems with payments call the ofice and speak to her area manager. Your book should have details on it of the number. I had many customers who could not keep up payments after they got loan after loan and the weekly amounts got our of control.

In my experience (this was about 10 years ago so may have changed ) provident will accept a reduction in payments and no more interest will be added as already added at beginning of loan. Obviously your agent will get narked if she is not getting her £60 per week as according to a recent advert I seen for them it is probally worth 10% commission to her so the less she gets of you the less she earns. I had quite a few customers who used to pay me reduced payments by prior arrangment with my area manager. The important thing is to let them know what is happening. If you try to avoid agent or just refuse to pay her manager will call to see you, you should call them first.

    Good luck

  • I think Provident have such a bad name and its totally unfair.

They are very good as the CAB will tell you at co-operating with them, they have a high cost per loan than all high street banks.. We have done many ddiscussions on Provident on this board, it always comes in their light. Not that I am advertising or glorifying them. But they do have their uses in a market that demands. But als they can be deamons in the wrong debtors hands.
