I haven't the foggiest...
I own the original artwork of a political cartoon that was used as a trade magazine cover. I now want to sell and have contacted a gallery that specialises in political cartoons. They want to know how much I want for it, won't just quote me.
They have 2 other cartoons by the same artist selling for £145/£185. These are about half the size of mine, and black and white only, whereas mine is coloured. The gallery would need to get mine mounted and framed.
What do you reckon I should ask for?

I would of thought they need to double the cost price, so if yours needs to be mounted and framed, i guess around £70/£100Div 1 Play Off Winners 2007

Is the artist reasonably well known? You could try an auction price search:

Thanks Sixer, interesting sites, but he isn't listed there as he just does cartoons, not 'fine art'.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

What's the license they'd be paying for?
Print it once for resale?
Print as many times as they want for X months for resale?
Re-use on other products and in their marketing?
How they use/re-use it has a lot of bearing on the price.
e.g. imagine if you sold it to them for £200 and then they had the right to use/re-use it as often as they liked, any how, any size, forever .... and it became a cult piece and you were sitting eating beans while every time you left your house you saw your cartoon used and re-used everywhere, with them raking it in?0 -

except the reproduction rights wouldn't be the Op's to sell along with the cartoon would they, not being the original artist (unless they bought/were given them along with the art)?"And suddenly I find myself listening to a man I've never known before,Telling me about the sea..."0 -
No, it's just the cartoon itself, no other rights attached, but a very good point, thanks.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
