Employer not paying wages in full - what to do?

Afternoon everyone. Hoped it would be a more pleasant reason for coming here but unfortunately not!
I've been working part time for nearly 3 weeks now. Pay is every Friday (or it's supposed to be) and you need to work a week in hand.
Last Friday (should have been my first pay day) came and gone with no wages put into my bank account. I told them this, and they had to pay me in cash from the tills in the store. But they said they could only pay me 60% of what I earn by this method. They've now told me that this Friday, so Xmas eve, it won't be going in again and will be doing this cash thing again. I'll probably be getting only 60% again, although I'm not sure.
What the hell is the problem? This can't go on and it's infuriating. I don't earn a lot anyway with it being part time and minimum wage. I can't see how something so simple can go so wrong? I've never had a problem with employers in the past.
They say it's some regional problem etc, one saying it's been sent, the other saying it hasn't. I wasn't really paying attention because I was just so disappointed and angry.
Any advice on what to do? Come Xmas eve I'll be probably down another 40%.
Also, has anyone heard of this 60% only by cash method?
Thanks guys.

Are you getting payslips?
I'd presume that they're only paying 60% so that they don't have to work out N.I. contributions and tax as they'll take that out of the remaining 40%.0 -
Well everyone else gets a wage slip, but when I asked the manager where mine was last week he said they haven't come in yet, and still haven't been given it from last week.0

Go back, re ask and pay attention this time.
Tell them that you are not leaving until the pay is correct. Tell them that it will need sorting. Check you gave them the correct bank details. Tell them that the 60% is not acceptable and they need to sort it.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
You do really need to pay attention to what they're telling you. If you're being told it's a regional problem ask for the contact details of the regional pay department and speak to them.0

Agree with last two posts but put it in writing giving them seven days to sort it out. Pay slips aren't an optional extra neither is paying you for work completed.~*~ If you don't need it, it isn't a bargain ~*~0

Firstly you need to calm down - get het up won't solve anything.
Secondly you need to find out exactly what is causing the problem - and then find out when it will be solved for definite. You need to be told who you can escalate this to - being aware that people will be away for Christmas / New Year so I doubt it will be solved before the New Year.
Thirdly I think that you are only being paid 60% as they are giving themselves a margin for any tax and NI that may be due ....I have no doubt that they will repay you any underpayment.
I have no doubt that you will get payslips - could they be delayed due to the snow perhaps?2014 Target;

cash advances are usually capped at 2/3rds of pay, sounds like you need to chase up the payroll.0
