Response time for tax

Options
I know that it has been pretty bad but what kind of time period should I look as being reasonable for a tax refund.

I have had two jobs and I have sent a letter requesting the tax man merges my tax following the receipt of a P45 from the employer I have left (I am owed £2000 personal allowance) in early November.

My situation has now changed again and I have now got a new job (having left my other employer). Should I send a second letter updating the tax man or wait for them to respond to my initial letter?

Company A - received P45
Company B - ceased employment, now waiting for final pay and P45 (paid 4 weekly).
Company C - Started with them, due a wage before Christmas
