A really inspiring post, best of luck with everything and I admire your discipline. I really think I'm going to look closer at my own situation, and cut my spends even more by knocking the drinking on the head, therefore getting to my debt free goal even quicker.
Thanks0 -
wow reading through you seem like an inspiration - keep going!0

Cheers Knightsmile and Dynamax have been having a little wobble over the last month or so. Had a few drinks for the first time in 2.5 years recently and started to drink a bit more regularly and actually started to feel a little down to be honest, stopped training my martial arts as just think at 33 I need to calm down a bit and not be spending every night training. Also started thinking about the things that went wrong with my ex (who I'm still friends with she has met someone new recently) sort of made me start feeling like a bit of a failure that I cant seem to make the relationships I'm in work however hard I try....
Anyway what I meant to say i was feeling pretty down today and just reading what you put has really cheered me up. Think I will get back on the wagon again and put my head down for a few months and I will be through the remortgaging and will have some savings too which will make me feel better.

Hi Sammy, I hope you feel a bit better now, you sounded quite down in your last post, but glad to see you have a plan for getting back on track

Awww cheers Sepa, feeling tons better.:D
With the ex we are still good friends because we didnt end badly really just decided we wanted different things plus we brought up her niece from a baby having her whole weekends and other times to help her Mum out who was suffering post natal depression so she sees me as her uncle and she means the world to me. But this closeness can make things a bit difficult but something just gotta live with.
Think I was just struggling with my saving and everything was getting on top of me. Good news though, I just made a £2000 overpayment today!!:j and also got my 0% credit card from Lloyds bank through today which will really ease my finances up as I will be able to buy day to day stuff with it and that will mean I can save more towards overpaying which well help towards the remortgage... got to try and get the LTV down to 75% and mortgage has got to go through before 31st Oct if I am to get the Bank of Irelands £1000 cashback for people who leave them... Its all going down to the wire and will really depend on what they value my flat at.[STRIKE]£106,200[/STRIKE] mortgage with 5% deposit 2 years ago on 6.99% 04/06/08

Deal I am going for is a lifetime tracker currently 3.09% from Woolwich.
I think it is £228 per month cheaper than what I am paying at the moment although it is £338 per month cheaper than what I was paying originally before I found this site and all about overpaying mortgages last November. (cant thank Martin or all you MFW enough)
Because it is a new deal I will get my 10% overpayment back for the year which I have already maxed out so I can continue overpaying this year.
Fingers crossed it all goes through ok.
So an extra £228 a month I can overpay the snowball effect has well and truly started![STRIKE]£106,200[/STRIKE] mortgage with 5% deposit 2 years ago on 6.99% 04/06/08

Then its just sit back and wait to hear about the remortgage deal. I will have another £1800 odd to chuck into the pot if need be.[STRIKE]£106,200[/STRIKE] mortgage with 5% deposit 2 years ago on 6.99% 04/06/08

Well fell completely off the wagon for a month and a half or so started drinking again went a bit mad, spent loads of money on credit card. Had a really good time nice to get out and make really good friends and feel part of a group again rather but I think I will have to get back on the wagon and become a bit of a goody two shoes monk again and go back to having a small stream of social invites rather than the deluge I've been having recently due to drinking and partying again :-(
That lifestyle cant really last and isnt really that fulfilling oh well back to the grindstone.[STRIKE]£106,200[/STRIKE] mortgage with 5% deposit 2 years ago on 6.99% 04/06/08
