Returning to management accounting after 10 year parenting career break

I'm seeking advice for my sister. She graduated with an accounting degree in the late 1990s and went on to take a couple of CIMA exams and gain two years of recorded experience before becoming pregnant. She has now been out of the workplace for 10 years but wants to return and complete CIMA.

My question is, is there any point? She applied for some assistant management accounts jobs, but got no replies because her skills are out of date, and she is also getting ignored for lower level accounts assistant jobs for the same reason. She only has 4 CIMA exams to complete and could do them all in 2011, but doing won't get her the experience she needs either.

Any suggestions on what she could do to get a role and get her final year of experience completed? And will passing the final CIMA exams a decade after the earlier ones be taken seriously by employers?
