Advice from CCCS re bank accounts

Hi I thought I'd post a new thread about this as no-one seems to be reading my previous thread (refused basic bank account) :(

I also thought I might post it on the Current Account forum but not sure if I'm supposed to post the same thing on two areas?

Anyway - after various refusals for basic bank accounts I phoned CCCS as am supposed to starting DMP with them soon. They told me that they are getting quite a few queries about this at the moment. I was advised;
  • try Barclays. CCCS work with them and so they will (hopefully) be more aware
  • try quoting para 3.1 of the banking code

I looked this up and it says the following;

3.1 Before you become a customer, we will:
• give you clear information explaining the key
features of the services and products you tell us you
are interested in;
• assess whether your needs are suited to a basic
bank account (if we offer one) and if they are we
will offer you this product;
• offer you a basic bank account if you specifically
ask, and meet the qualifying conditions for one;
• give you information on a single product or service, if
you have already made up your mind; and
• tell you what information we need from you to prove
your identity (by law, we have to check your identity).

So I'm going to try Barclays tomorrow. Wish me luck.......

R :)

    Hi rarele - I just looked at your last thread and there are 32 replies, with lots of advice - are you sure you just didn't lose it because it slipped to page 2?

    Anyway - you can always try looking at the FSA website for advice on basic accounts.

    And I wish you well with Barclays tomorrow:beer:
