Got a bank loan abit ago and repayments were due to start on Monday. Got a confirmation letter with all my account no, sort code etc and confirmed the DD was setup. Checked my account and nothing come out, and the DD not been setup according to online banking.

Went in today, and the women rang the loan office who deal with it all, and they insist i have paid them this month. They confirmed the account is the correct one, and confirmed the DD has been setup and its down as paid. The women in the bank said i havent paid as she has my account on her screen with nothing showing. Upshot is i have to go back on Thurs while they investigate, as they have seen nothing like this before.

So whats going on?

  • Could be a delayed transfer maybe it happens on the very rare occasion where they have taken the payment and set everything up but it hasnt been updated on your account.Usually occurs if you bank with the same companys that issued the loan.

Yea halifax bank loan and bank with them. So how long before it appears on my account?
  • It could be anything upto a month usually its right after the payments taken though when it does happen as the audits and balance would flag it up.

Been told its due to the DD being setup to come out on a weekend (seems a **** excuse to me). They took the money out manually, and issued another request for the DD which the hope will work. They also stated any charges i may face for missed payments/double payments will be waived

So They should be. Also if the date of the DD falls on the weekend or Bank Holiday it comes out the next working day (for example DD due to be paid on or after 25th December 2010 will not be paid unitl 29th December 2010Weeked and Bank holidays

Well thats what i thought happened, and does with other DD i have. They seem to think because its a new DD and the 1st payment was due on a weekend, thats where the problem was.
