Santander lost share dividends

Hi, i recently received a letter from a tracing company telling me that I have a sum of money in share dividends that I had completely forgotten about, and didn't realise that I still held. The company want 10% of the dividends plus 10% of the shares that I hold, in return for tracing me. Is there any way I can reclaim the money without using the services of this company? Thanks.

No need to give your money to some scammers.
  • My 80yo mum was recently contacted by prosearch abt her outstanding abbey shares, they said she had some £ 400+ owing but they wanted a % for doing so.

She had moved and had forgotten abt the account. We contacted santander directly advising them of the new address and to reclaim shares and lost dividends.

They have sent her 3chqs in 3 envelopes and charged her admin fees for each one £35, £20 and £2 respectively.

This is a bit cheeky methinks and no where near what prosearch said she was owed. I am less than satisfied with this awful admin fee and they have failed to provide a full breakdown and share cert.

    Can we refute the charges?
