Thats whay should do then Pal!
At the risk of making the point again, you need to come up with syntax that makes sense before you set up a website of your own.But do you have to keep saying it over and over and over again.
And what is reasoned debate, sensible passive arguments that allows BTL to continue, yes that would suit you and many other down to the ground.
Not really, I like robust debate. I would say people like Graham and DervProf provide compelling, reasoned debate that makes you think. You just provide odd ranting.
You also seem to continue to be painting me as some massive BTL fan. If you read my posts on this page I'm somewhat in the middle when it comes to BTL, I'm neither a massive fan or someone who wants to see it taxed to high heaven. I know from experience on this forum that it helps if you either want all landlords shot or you think that BTL is the road to riches, but there are a few of us who stand on the middle ground. I think BTL should continue yes, but maybe not in its current form.0 -
Genuine question for the folks on this thread who say property is too expensive (which it is IMO...)
What have you done to lessen the gap between renting and purchasing?
Have you tried a career change? Went to evening classes to improve your education/chances of a better job? Applied for better paid jobs elsewhere? Thought about moving area?
Ranting on the internet is not your only option to improve your chances of home ownership, believe me.
I have done a lot of those things. Firstly I did a degree in sciences, (Geology and Chemistry). I am now a Chartered Accountant and spent most evenings through my 20's studying as well as having a full time job. I also moved from the North down South as the job prospects were better (and to be with my now Wife). For me the easiest way to afford what I want has been through my own determination to earn as much as possible. Bought my first house 5 years ago when I was 31. A big part of buying was that we were settling down, before that I liked the flexibility of renting. I could change jobs and move more quickly than if I had a house to consider. Please remember other opinions are available.0 -
have nothing against you except your BTL business, nobody wants BTL except BTL landlords.
<sigh>
And, of course, people who want to privately rent a house. For three years at Uni my mates and I wanted to rent a house, so we were an example of people who wanted BTL landlords to exist.0 -
I think the point is nobody is saying all BTL should be culled, the point is it it has got out of hand and has ramped prices up to create its own market.
The question is how many tennants want to rent and how many have to rent because they have been priced out by such ramping.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
Quit day job to run 3 businesses 08/02/2017
Started third business 25/06/2016
Son born 13/09/2015
Started a second business 03/08/2013
Officially the owner of my own business since 13/01/20120 -

The OP is saying clearly that all BTL should be culled. Him and an angry mob marching to an internet cafe to make their point known.0 -

That's madness. The poster is now left with large debts and assets they can't release themselves of, hoping for more price rises, which will only trap more people. This is the craziness I'm talking about, that legislation would have held back slightly, IMO.
It wasnt so much that I couldnt afford the rent - it was that rental prices were so out of whack at the time that the mortgage I would be paying on the new place was far, far lower then the rent would have been on a similar size property in the same location. I also had more than enough on my plate with my regular job to want to have to bother with all the hassle of a rental property, not to mention the insecurity of it, but I thought it would be short term and I could then get rid of it. I didnt see the property crash coming (you will see I am not claiming to be in any way financially aware - and yes I am ready for the barrage of insults that will no doubt be fired in my direction) but at the time I was persuaded by the builders I was buying from, the letting agents I spoke to and a few others I ran it by that its fine - selling housees is easy! Oh if only I'd known.
And I'm also not focussing on more price rises - I am focussing on getting my level of debt down so I can over pay my mortgage and sell for the real value today, rather than the clearly inflated value of 3 years ago.0 -

Easy to find yourself in such a situation where you are persuaded of the best route, no doubt.
We still have those people ramping, and trying to get people to buy now, pay more now, get more debt now etc etc.0 -
