Private health care when can u claim

hi all
my mate has recently hurt his knee playing footie and wants to get private health care and go private but he seems to think he has to wait a year before he can claim
any thought on best pmi company and how long before he can claim ?

Usually pre existing conditions are not included, so its unlikely insurance will help in this case.0 -
He could pay to go privately but I assume you're talking about private health insurance which will exclude existing conditions and often recurring or related conditions within a defined period of time eg my mum had her hip replaced but if that same hip had gone within 2 years it wouldnt have been covered, though having her other hip done was. I do know of somebody who applied for private health cover and didnt mention an inury, then a few months down the line put in a claim for some treatment. As soon as the specialist got to him it was obviousl from scar tissue that there'd been an old injury and he faced a bill that the insurance wouldn't cover plus the embarassment factor! Your friend would have to declare what they'd done and if he did get cover the premium price would probably be high to reflect that0
