Stew that has been frozen then reheated actually tastes better as the flavours have more chance to mingle.0

I used to be married to a fussy eater - marmite sandwiches, crisps and biscuits were his lot - please note the used to be! Now have a lovely OH who thoroughly enjoys whatever I put in front of him as long as it's not offal or cabbage (offal the texture and cabbage actually allergic) so I can live with that!
Pie!! what a brilliant idea!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

I'm in the reheat it, eat it yourself and serve him a sandwich camp.
Sorry no room for emotion when its all in his head. My saying is Sympathy is between !!!!!! and Syphilis in the dictionary, look it up if you want some.
I've been lucky no one i've cooked for has been a fussy eater - then again I don't think we have lasted passed the first month!0 -
Anything "stewlike" eg curry is better reheated. I cook stews & curries the day before specifically so I can re-heat them.0

I've never had my OH 'not want' something I've cooked. Ok - once when he came home a little worse for wear but he came down later and had it warmed up. If he ever did - he'd not have any meal cooked until he apologised.
Nothing frozen - how rude!!!If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Is it because he thinks it goes a bit watery? I find bolognaise does, so have to add corn flour during the re-heat.
Saying that, it is like it, lump it, or cook yourself in our house"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
I'd defrost it, stir it well to reincorporate any water that has split out, whack it in an oven dish and cover in puff pasty. Voila, a brand new pie
Or pasties for lunches by putting the filling inside circles of shortcrust pastry.
I have to say I'd let him fend for himself if he was unwilling to eat what I'd laboured to put in front of him!

Jackieo, my Husband is like your friend -he will only read brand new books.
Infact he prefers to buy them from Amazon, as oppose to a shop, as no one will have been looking at them while 'brousing'!

Most reheated food is better! I had a frozen stew today, by the time it was warm enough to eat it was a little watery, once I heated it to boiling it thickened and was NICER then when I made it.
My OH says most my food tastes better on the second day.
I am making oxtail stew soon, and you are SUPPOSED to cook it the day before to allow the flavours to develop better! We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Personally, i'd knock him out with the block of frozen stew but all the sensible replies of sneaky reheating are much better
my OH has a thing about mince... "cheap" frozen mince he won't eat, and whenever fresh mince is frozen he says it smells funny when being cooked and gets it in his head it tastes gross and is making him feel sick!! I just don't tell himLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0
