£3500 loan needed

Please can someone help?

My husband and I want to get a loan to pay off our credit cards. The end of 0% rate is rapidly approaching and we ware trying to get a loan at a lower interest rate than what the cards will go up to (about 15%).
Unfortunately, up until about 2 years ago, we had some financial problems and have a couple of defaults on our file. We have been all ok in the last 2 years and are ok now.
Also, we have been looking at all the available options to us recently, and have applied for various other 0% cards and high street lender loans, all to no avail.
We both work, have a mortgage, a joint income of about 19000, and can afford a minimum of £200 a month to pay back, possibly more.
We have asked about increasing our mortgage, but the minimum they do is £7500, and I would rather not take that much over 25 years, unless we get it and put the extra into a savings account or ISA.

Is there anywhere else we could go, other than "Ocean" or "Picture"? I know their minimum is £5000, but again we could just take the 3500 and save the rest.

Any help very very welcome.

Thanks

Lx

  • Wouldn't it be best to try and get another 0% credit card first and transfer the balance then try and pay off this CC before the new 0% period ends?

whoops, sorry - you did say in your OP. that is as far as my financial know-how goes and i would not feel comfortable as the blind leading the blind! good luck and I am sure that someone brilliant from this forum will be able to offer some advice soon x
  • Why not apply for the M&S More Than card, it is promoting 3.9% for the Life of the Balance, this would turn out cheaper than a loan. Obviously not sure about your acceptance as it sounds like you have been applying for quite a few cards
