CV writing service

I am in job, but it will come to an end in Feb-Apr next year. I am now starting to look for a new position.

Whilst I think my CV is great, and it has had some success in the past, I feel it needs a re-vamp and I know there are lots of people who can do it a lot better then me.

I was just wondering if anyone has used a professional CV writing service? I see them costing around £25 for someone to look at it and give you their comments, £50-£100 for someone to write it for you, and £200 for them to do everything for you, write you CV, covering letters etc (I think you have to go to the interview though!)

So if anyone has used on can they give me their opinion on them and which company they used.

Thanks

    Sting,

I have used/ sourced outplacement services before which do the whole counselling/ review and job finding thing... I wouldn't pay for someone to review your cv, I'd invest in a couple of good how to books. If you wanted something more in depth, I'd look at Penna.. but it'll cost!

If you are looking at jobs above the high volume roles like in call centres or shops then I would say that the services arent a good investment.

Realistically you should tailor your CV/ cover letter to each job you are applying for to ensure that you are highlighting the parts that best match their job description requirements etc - if you were paying for a service to do this it would get expensive quickly.

I used this company to rewrite my CV. I just went for the basic service. They charge extra to send it to you in e form, so I just typed up the hard copy myself. I can email it to you if you like.

They turned "I currently work in a supermarket and would like to escape" into "Now keenly looking for a dynamic and challenging position in office administration, one which will make best use of current skills and experience, and enable further personal and professional development."
