  • I would stick to freehold, people can have lots of problems with leasehold.

    A two bed house is on the small side for a family of four, I bet you'll be glad to have a conservatory and garage when they're in their late teens/early twenties.

    with that age of kids really I would stay put.. we just sold our 2 bed flat for a 3 bed house and really there is no comparison..

    What is your aim with this?

    To free up some money in the here and now? (I.e. lower / no mortgage payments each month)
    Or to avoid all that interest you pay on a mortgage in the long term?

    If it's the former, have you considered remortgaging?
    If the latter, I wouldn't be surprised if you'd pay more in fees than you would save in interest.
  • I guess the main aim is to have no mortage whatsoever, if we cant manage that due to property prices than at least no more than a 20 - 30 thousand mortgage. I just want to be able to feel lighter about things :o
