When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free! :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.!

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

morning  OMG snow situation is bad! snowed continually from 6 until I went to sleep. Am supposed to be going out with dd but I'm not going to be able to even get out of my road....

So that's going to change my day considerably!
  • tidy up kitchen
  • quick shower
  • check banking
  • do a couple of hours work from home - have such a build up at the moment and am battling to get it done before time off next week cba
  • walk to the supermarket to get coffee (haven't been able to have a coffee this morning ) & flour
  • make cake
  • make butternut soup
  • post soup recipe for littlekel on her diary
  • check for surveys
  • wrap up last of presents
  • call MBNA to get interest charges to be reduced by 50% done £10.33 refunded :)
  • call asda cc to get set up with online account - use saynoto0870.com to get freephone no
  • get stew out of freezer for dinner tomorrow
  • get tom sauce base out of freezer to make pizza later
  • wash up sandwich bags
  • applied for child benefit I didn't think I was entitled to it...
I think that's it! Have a good day everyone & be safe (ps cat I waited until 8 until starting the thread in case someone else wanted to start it! ;))

  • Today I will hopefully get round to listing some items on eBay which should sell for decent money which I've been putting off for weeks. I missed out on the Christmas present bidders I think. :o

Thanks for starting the thread DNMS. I have kind of well and truly overspent the past few days  so time to rein in. No more books etc and keep everything in the semi touchable account so I have to either like go to the cash point down the road or transfer monies to use it :)

This am's agenda (cos I didn't get to bed till 12 so like will need a nap later)

    AM
    • Wash up
    • Sort out washingMenu plan and shopping list
    • Ironing
    • Hoovering
    • Check card list and parcel for chaplaincy (Uni)

Och and also like do my food list as well..I'm doing the 'french women don't get fat' diet that I got from the charity shop yesterday for £1 and it looks just what I was wanting. A book full of common sense (why are all the best sellers just full of common sense? What does that say about us as a nation )

    Hope everyone is well...

    Hugs

    Morning All,

Morning Determined – thanks for starting the thread this morning and congrats on payday for you

Hi to all new posters. Hugs to those that need them.

    Today I have/will
    • Checked online banking – need to take some cash out for this afternoon and evening’s drinkies
    • Only at work for 3.5 hours as there is a work Christmas lunch
    • Drink alcohol at the event as there is a free bar
    • Need to share a cab into the town centre
    • Will stick to soft drinks in town
    • Will be sober enough to get the train home (rather than getting hubby to pick me up)
    • Will buy something light (like a sandwich) rather than go out for a curry with the rest of team
    • Check emails
    • Breakfast and dinner from storecupboard
    • Used my rail pass to get to work
    • Catch up with friends on FB rather than texting people
    • Read newspaper online and get the free newspaper at the station
    • Need to check out the freebies and the competition boards
    • Enter comps online
    • Washing on a quick wash 30 degrees

    Have a great day everyone

    Morning all,

I feel back on form with a morning post today :)

I got round to reading everyone's posts from the last few days so I don't feel so bad about "posting & running" anymore!

DMNS - I'm glad to hear you made it to see your DD & she liked her presents, hope you don't have too much trouble because of the snow today, it's cleared up a bit here but we are expecting more to come. I hope it holds off until Xmas, would be nice to have a proper white xmas!

    Today's plan:-

    • Finish 2011's bills diary & calendar
    • Make a homemade xmas card for my mum & dad
    • Finish up organising the accounts paperwork
    • Update food diary/plan
    • Find items to ebay
    • Keep reading through "losing lbs whilst saving £££'s" thread
    • Call Orange & try to switch tariff
    • Enter comps
    • Check for surveys
    • Tidy up some more
    • Spend at least 10mins going over my tkd terminology - need to pass first time not shell out twice
    • Try to finish 101 list bearing in mind it needs to be fairly MSE!
    • Write Xmas cards bought in last years sale
    • Dinner from cupboards
    • [STRIKE]Pay in cheque[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Hoping for a LSD - only got a few essentials at lunch[/STRIKE]
    • Also hoping my last 2 parcels arrive...*fingers crossed*
Have a great, moneysaving day everyone x

  • Bit of a later list for me as I had to leave the house earlier this morning. My boss collected me as we can't get the car down the hill today, far too icy!

    So far today I have:
    • had warming porridge for breakfast
    • given left over porridge mixed with grain to the chickens
    • made lunch to bring to work
    • got a lift so not using DH's car
    • scanned divorce papers (rather than posting) to Ex so he can marry his lovely long-term partner before she passes away:(:(:(
    I will also:
    • Nip out at lunchtime to get teabags, drinking chocolate, cucumber and bananas - no more shopping after that!!
    • do a bit of knitting with what's left of my lunchbreak
    • left over lamb in shepherd's pie for dinner
    • bake Xmas goodies whilst the oven is on
    • finish hampers for 2 presents
    • try to enjoy my day, just 2 more then 11 days off :j
Hope everyone has a good Tuesday

Thanks perni - I was just thinkiing about it and am really happy :j presnets for dd have been very difficult over the last couple of years and no matter what I get its never something that makes her happy or that she appreciates :( (in fact most times I think she sells anything of any value...)

but we got her a pair of straightners - she hasn't had any since the beginning of the year and she was clearly delighted with these & a stereo - on offer of course ;) from £79.99 TO £59.99 (a little more than I had budgeted for) and she was really happy with this as well as she had asked for one a few months ago.

Happy with the experience yesterday, although wish we had had a little more time together - but I guess short & sweet is much more beneficial for eveyone concerned than a long endurance! :)

I know, I can't even use the snow as an excuse! Why do bosses have to own 4x4s????
