i have about £3300 on a 10.9% credit card and want to switch it to a 0% balance transfer card. i have been rejected on 2 applications so far so applied for my expieran credit check.
as suspected, it's only the mortgage account that is showing any problems and this has been back on track for about 3 months now. the credit score during the rough period was at worst a 2.
can anyone tell me how long it will take before it's worth me applying for another card again?
thanks

Does the credit check show a 'default' on the mortgage account? If so, this will stay on your file for 6 years, but often its importance will diminish with age. Some creditors will accept you with 'defaults' - it is entirely up to the creditor and they all have different criteria. Also, it is not always good to make too many applications in a short period, as this will also show up.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. it doesn't mention a default, just a few numbers 1 & 2 where they use the numbering scheme 0-3. obviously at their best these should be 0, and have been for the past 3 months.0

Then I would suggest leaving it for another 3 months before applying again.
