Barclays loan

Hi there

Wonder if anyone can help me. 2 years ago I took out a barclays loan for £10,000 over 5 years. during the last two years barclays have never reported this to my credit file. I have always thought odd, but never did anything about it. I always paid it on time as well.
However, recently I have been struggling. I am 1 month behind currently. I now noticed the other day that barclays have now entered the loan onto my credit file. This will mess up my file.

However, my main question is:
Should Barclays have been reporting my loan agreement from day 1?? or why are they just doing it now?

Thanks in advance.

It is up to them what they choose to report, as long as if they do report it is an accurate reflection of the facts.

Regardless, why would it make any difference to your situation?
  • cause I have made up to date payments for 2 years. Thought it might have helped my credit file if it was up to date............

I thought they had legal obligation to report it?

I could have taken out more loans etc etc. What you think?
    Thanks

some companys only report bad data.
  • credit reporting good or bad isnt a legal requirement, some would argue that credit reports are worthless as some lenders pay no attention to them.

Different companies report to different agencies - have you checked your credit reports with all of the agencies? It may be that Barclays have been reporting to a different CRA to the one you've been checking.
My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

I don't think repaying a loan on time could ever be described as GOOD. its normal i.e what is expected.

The missed payment would have royally humped whatever the met payments meant in any case.

If you have only just started missing payments and they have suddenly started reporting the loan on your credit file, are they also not reporting the fact that you were previously up to date for two years?
  • My barclays loan only used to show on equifax but not experian for some reason during the duration it was for but then showed on both when it was settled. It could be barclays only update the one credit file company every month that they themselves search most often.
