My gran always used royal icing to stick hers
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire
  • I always use a paste of iceing sugar and water, a little thicker than normal. This always works fine, though you have to hold the edges you're gluing for a couple of seconds to make sure it sets in the right place.

A lot of places recommend a sort of caramel / sugar based glue but Ive never found it to work very well, making it is tricky and often lots of burnt fingers in the process - ouch!
  • I made one the other week and used royal icing... it worked really well and stuck everything together perfectly!! :-)
  • I used royal icing for mine, I liked that because it stuck well and was quite shiney too :)
