How do get a PS2 (Slim) on T'internet?

hi, i have just got PES6 for the PS2 and wanted to play it online.

but i don't know where to start
i have 2mg broadband which is wired downstairs through a router, and i have a USB wireless adapter to connect to the internet upstairs.
would i be able to just plug in my Wireless USB adaptor to one of the free USB sockets on the PS2 (Slim)and configure the network that way or do i have to buy some special software/hardware?

also i cannot find the disk that came with the PS2

cheers

  • hmm, not 100% sure on wireless but you can get a RJ45 AKA Ethernet wire and plug that directly into the router should work

the router is a LOOOONNNNNNGGGG way from the PS2 so i don't fancy having a wire traipsing through the house.

  • 3.) Now the fun part. For wireless access to your DSL account... so you DON'T have to keep unplugging and plugging back into the modem, you need a wireless router and a wireless bridge. YES, you CAN go the wired route, but I think it's more of a hassle. The most compatible router I've come across is the Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless-B Cable/DSL Router, which is pretty darn cheap here at Amazon. About 10% cheaper than discount electronics stores in my area. (Los Angeles) Open and install the DSL Router. To connect for installation, you simply unplug the Ethernet cable from your PC and into the PC input on the back of the router, then re-connect the PC via an additional Ethernet cable (i.e. Monster Cable JN PCNJ HP-6 Computer to Ethernet Network Connection (6 ft.)) going from one of the output jacks on the back of the DSL Router to the Ethernet input on the back of your PC. (The same jack you unplugged from to hook into the DSL Router input. Think of it like hooking a VCR or DVD player up to your TV, with the DSL Router being the DVD player, your PC being the TV and your DSL modem being the cable source. DSL modem to DSL Router; DSL Router to PC. 4.) Once the Router is installed and working, you need to attach a Wireless Bridge to your PS2 Network Adapter. The model I use is the Linksys WET11 Wireless Ethernet Bridge. Again, pretty cheap here - but you can shop around to find out for yourself. The Wireless Bridge plugs directly into the Ethernet port on the PS2 Network Adapter. 5.) After connection of both the Router and Bridge, all that's left is to set up your Playstation Online registration. You might need your connection number, and will definitely need your user id and password. 6.) The last step is the easiest of all. Shop for online enabled games! Some key titles (as of November 2003) are SOCOM II U.S. Navy Seals, NBA Live 2004,Tony Hawk's Underground, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004, Madden 2004 for PlayStation 2 and Midnight Club Street Racing 2. More are available and even more are on the way from various developers. Have fun, and see (blow you away) online!

    thanks for the effort

i already have a wireless connection that runs from my router downstairs to my pc upstairs through a wireless USB adaptor.

how does the PS2 recognize the Ethernet Bridge?
    is it plug and play?
or do i need the installation disk (of the bridge hardware)
