I would like to ask advice regarding registering as self employed for a second job.
I work full time and paid via PAYE 25K.
I have worked for a local company for the last 3 month earning approx £200 a month. This will stop in Jan and will not occur for the forseeable future.
I have read guidance and intend to register self employed BUT..
I am starting a new job with a new employer in January. Will this period of additional work end up changing my tax code etc with my employer?
Once I am registered self employed , what happens if i do not actually work self employed for a year +? do I un register or simply leave it alone ?
Many thanks for your help.

It sounds as though you have (as your first sentence) a second job ..... rather than being self employed? As such the £200pm employer should have operated Code BR and deducted tax at 20%.
There's a status check here that will help with a focus .... as being self employed isn't something that you and the person paying you the £200 can simply decide between you :-

Unfortunately as this sounds to be employment income ...... you can't normally just get it coded out even though you're under the £2500 threshold :-
