I generally have no problem with people who work in debt recovery. If people don't pay their debts they do need to be recovered. As long as it is done lawfulyl and properly without harrassment. Sadly it just doesn't seem to happen.

But I do have a problem with people who target vulnerable people. It's sick and disgusting.

Would I do it for £8k more? I can honestly say I wouldn't. Despite me being in debt I've come to realise there is more to life than money. I'd rather take a pay cut and work for someone like the CCCS repairing the damage people like Ocean Finance do. :)

I doff my cap to you sir...you are truly a man of morals ;)

I don't like my job but as i'm paying my way out of debt and it pays a decent wage i'll stick with it for the time being. I also don't deal with 'personal' debt as most of mine is large companies that go insolvent and I deal with clearing up the mess afterwards.

Not really. Like SouthernScouser I understand debts need to be recovered.

My career has been focused around working with people who are in crisis, and sometimes, things have to be done to/with those people that they dont agree with. Hell I worked in social services for years, Im used to being hated.

I am not a mean person, and think I would be good at the job, competent & fair. Theres nothing wrong with working in debt collection, as long as you are professional and work legally, and do not harass.

I wouldnt sell consolidation loans of the Picture/ Purple/ norton/ ocean variety as I believe the products are fundamentally flawed and I could not lie to customers that all is sorted in one easy solution.

I applied for a loan with them in 1997 and they quoted me around 22%. I did not know how bad they were but I knew I could get the money cheaper somewhere else and did around 8%.

As to working for them not a Cat In Hells Chance. I would want to tell people that they need help not more money.

I have had a loan from Ocean FInance & ended up claiming 2 years worth of payments from their insurance cover ( the one we are always told to cancel because we dont need it) when OH was ill. They were pleasant & helpful and very understanding. In fact they sorted out a previous claim for me when he broke his arm & I didnt even know we were covered.

I may agree consilidated loans are not a good idea to those who have yet to get their spending in order but i think there are far worse lenders around & the are regulated. Although I must be one of the few customers who paiod back considerably less than they borrowed, which puts a rosy glow on it perhaps.

I also dont think secure loans are all bad.
