Seen people do it and would be eager to learn myself. Does anyone know of any absolute beginners classes that I could go to - I can be slow in picking up arty based skills so i need a class or tutor who can go at a slow pace.

Sorry I don't know of any classes, but there are lots of tutorials on Youtube which I've found really useful.
This wool shop has some great clearance wools:

I'm not sure if they still do it, but John Lewis in Glasgow used to do a free weekly class- my daughter learnt that way ( learning from her mother wasn't "cool" apparently!)0

Good for you OP, I taught my husband to knit about 30 years ago, he knitted a scarf, the one and only thing he did do knitting wise.
I still have it. He decided knitting wasnt for him.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I can definitely recommend K1 classes, I learnt at their absolute beginner course last year. I did the classes in Edinburgh, I think their Queen Margaret Drive branch closed earlier this yearThanks for the advice Martin! :money:Member no. 920 - Proud to be dealing with our debts0
