    If most of your basic needs are covered by the two state pensions,which are index linked/escalated, then there would be no need to even consider a poor value private sector index linked annuity.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

    Worth remembering that:
    • Index linking doesn't index link for economic growth, so relying on it means you fall steadily behind the rising wealth of the rest of the population.
    • Even index linking alone is expected to require a 30% increase in the proportion of GNP spent on state pensions.
    I know that I'm not comfortable with either my own income falling behind the rest of society or in trusting that those big increases in state pension spending will happen.
