Meal planner for last 2 weeks with costs

Ok i did this to help out another member and thought it might help someone else.

these are the meals we have had over the last 2 week's , plus i worked out how much the meals have cost. i hope it can be of some help to someone. if anyone want to ask me a question then please do.

ok when i say cost per person that is 4 people. but it is 2 adult meals and 2 children meal's. but it easier to just work out for 4 peoples same size meals for price's.

ROAST BEEF.

Joint was reduced from 9 pound to 4.17 ( used half , should of used other half in a meal but gave our 4 cats a treat) 2.08
Yorkshire pudding mix 11p
needed 1 egg for mix , had bought 15 eggs for 1 pound from iceland so 6p for the egg
carrots cost 1.19 for bag used 1/10 so 11p
cabbage cost 27p used 1/3 9p
and hm apple sauce ( apples were given to us )

total cost 2.45 per person 61 p

POTATO , ONION AND CHEESE LAYER PIE WITH SPICY BEAN MINCE.

Potatos bag cost 1.49 from tesco 5kg value bag , but i complained to tesco as some were rotten so got whole bag for free so really cost nothing but i have inculded the price, used 1/10 of bag so 14.9p

onions bought a bag of value it contained 40 small ones bag cost 80 p , used 3 . so 6p

Cheese bought a 600g block gor 2.99 , used about 1/6 so 49p

milk about 4 table spoons

and salt and pepper to season

Spicy bean mince i bulk cook this from half A 1.75 KG bag of mince from tesco which costs 3.13 , then i add 4 tins of value baked beans and 4 small onions and a tablespoon of mild chili powder. to make this whole batch cost 2.52 and makes ten single portions. so the cost for this meal is 50p

total for meal 1.23 30.7 per person

HM PIZZA

I make the dough in bread maker

value plain four 27 p a bag , i will get 5 pizza bases from this so 5p
yeast i buy a box for 49p which has 6 sachets in it and i use half a sachet so 4p
water price ?
2 table spoons of sugar bag cost 73p so maybe 2p
1 teaspoon of salt , tesco value bag cost 25 p so not even 1p
butter , i use value block for this cost 53p so about 3p

so base costs 16p

then topping i usually use tom sauce for this , value bottle is 29p and i use 3 table spoons so about 2p
1 onion ( see previous ) 2p
mushrooms box of value is 1.14 i used about 6 big one's so maybe about 15p
3 slices of ham . i buy in morrisons 20 slices for 1.99 so 27 p
cheese again used 1/6 49 p
and sometimes i will use pineapple. small tins are 25 and i use half a tin so 12.5 p

and then half a pack of iceland southern coated chips which cost 1 pound so 50p
and value peas 60p a bag used 1/5 so 12p

( i know i could make chips at home but i love the southern ones from iceland so don't mind spending 1 pound on them , but to keep cost down u could make your own)

total cost 3.78 94p per person

CHILLI AND RICE

4 tins of chopped toms 52p
some water price ?

and tablespoon of chilli 5p
this makes 16 single portions therfore 18p per portion

rice i buy the 4kg bag or easy cook rice from tesco for 1.81 it does 53 servings there for 3p a serving

so cost for meal 42p and 21p per serving ( kids don't like this meal. to make a change we sometimes have a bag of value tortilla with it which cost 19p a bag

TUNA PASTA

1 buy the 3kg bags from tesco for 1 pound, bag does 30 servings so 9.9p which is 3 serving ( enough for 2 adults and 2 children)
tuna i large tin in spring water from morriosn for 98p
tin of value baked beans 17p
i make my own cheese sauce from cornflour , milk , salt pepper and cheese so about 10p . ( i use value mild chedder for this)
i pack of crisps. ( i like to crush them then sprinkle them on top for a nice cripsy topping.) i bought a box or 30 walkers crisps from asda for 2 pounds so 6 p a pack.

therefore 1.40 for the meal and 35 p per portion

cost of meal 1.39 and 34p per person

SWEET AND SOUR CHICKEN

Sauages on bogof at sainsburys is mo pack of 8 buthcers cutone for 1.66 so 83p a pack
chips again half a bag so 50
and tin of value beans 17p

cost 1.50 37p per portion. sometimes i will make some home made bread rolls to go with this, makes it real comfort food.

potatos to roast 14p
carrots 11p
stuffing ( tesco value ) 13p
cabbage ( 1/3 of previous listing) 9p
parsnip , bag cost 1.57 tesco value and there was 20 small ones used 3 in meal so 23p

total cost 2.20 and 55 p per portion, again try to save some roast )

chicken left from day before 1.50
mushrooms as before so about 15p
i make my own white sauce and season with salt and pepper so about 10p or so.
(sometimes i add frozen peas or sweetcorn or bacon as a change also this bulk it up more)
pastry for top as before so 19p

serve with hm roasts 14p
and carrots 11p

total cost 2.19 54p per person.

so if my adding is correct that would be 20.44 for nearly 2 weeks of meals for a family of 4. but bear in mind to buy everything it would cost more , but once u ahve the items it is easy to cook for cheap.

i really hope this makes sence

Thank you sooooo much. I've been looking for some extra recipes that the children will like as well and these sound great.

I've only just started bulk buying/cooking and am finding it really useful can't understand why I didn't do it before... oh yes I didn't know any MSE posters!!

    thank you .

tbh , when i wrote this down it acutally made me realise how cheap meals can be with care and thought and there not even boring meals. it has made me take another look at my shopping, and realise what can be made from whats in the cupboards and freezer's.

it took me about 2 hours to go throught receipt's and work all this out and it was so enjoyable. i will certainly do this alot more.

thia is brilliant thanks - I have been half heartedly been os for a while as I fell off the wagon a little. However at the weekend sat down and made a meal plan for the week.

Now I am going to cost everything out as you have done to see what each meal actually costs me and compare with my overall spend on food to see where the 'extra' is going :D

    thanks for the inspiration xxx
