Several weeks ago I booked the extravaganza day at Gullivers World at Warrington, its cost me nearly £100 and was paid by my late great auntie who left me the money in her will. So I thought I would treat my children to a trip we could otherwise not afford. I live about 45 mins away by car, in a small town. Well last night we got 14 inches of snow, so bad that we can't even get the car off the drive, let alone out of the town which has ground to a deadlock, with cars and trucks parked anywhere because they can't move. I rang Warrington today to explain my situation, they said I could change my days but I told them am in work all next week and with the way the snow is, it looks like it will be this way anyway all week. She tols me that I am not entitled to a refund as the park is operational and its not their fault. But its not my fault either that 14 inches of snow decided to fall and I think its completely unfair that I can't have a refund under these circumstances. I asked to speak to the manager but she said he was in the park so I left my number for them to phone back. I got no telephone call, I tried re ringing an it was going into automated message so I have now emailed. I intend to ring back tomorrow and I need to know what my rights are so I can get them to give me a refund. Thanks for listening. Hope someone can help please.

You don't have any rights Gullivers World were willing to conclude their part of the contract and even offered a alternate date something they didn't have to do.
Anything you do get is at their discretion"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

It was part of the deal that they were to offer an alternative date if you couldnt make it , I speciafically booked a weekend as I work all week. I understand that if it had been any other circumstances which was purely my fault I wouldn't get a refund, but the weather is out of my control and I am not risking the lives of my family to get there £100 is alot of money to someone who tries to skrimp and save with the way things are today and its left me and espcially my children disspointed that I can now not afford something alternative for them and that my late aunties money has been wasted. They shouldn't be able to rip people off like this!! Am fuming!0

Where is the rip off? Optimist has already explained it to you.0 -
Its not a rip off, they have offered alternative dates and the park is open, you have refused.
If you broke your leg would you be expecting a refund because you could not drive ?0 -
Great minds deanos....OP has posted this in the UK days out forum and getting pretty much the same response but doesn't like what we're saying!0

I'd ask if they could send you vouchers as an alternative.. you really should just choose another weekend and ask to rebook - you have no rights to a refund0

take a day off work? it might not be as busy, either.0

So the snow is not your fault and you expect to be able to get a refund..
The snow is not the park's fault yet you expect not to pay them....
The park is open and ready for visitors, you cannot get there.
Think, unfortunately, you will have to accept that you don't deserve a refund. And if the park do give you an undeserved refund that you come straight back on here and tell everyone about their largesse.
I booked to take my grandson to see Father Christmas at Paultons park today. Saw the snow and checked on line. They did say that anyone who managed to get to the park today would see Father Christmas, get their pressie and get a complimentary ticket valid for the 2011 season. BUT, my original thought was not to blame the park, go on-line and bleat about the unfairness of the weather ruining my plans. I didn't think I would complain about the so-called unfairness of the snow falling and ruining my plans(bearing in mind my grandson, who is 4 , had been talking about it all week)My first thought was if the weather was so bad I wouldn't try the trip. As it was the weather cleared up and I took him. But I would put my grandsons safety before risking the trip.
And I hardly think that a line about how your day out was paid for by your late aunt is going to tug too many heart strings. You say she left it to you in her will, yet then say you decided to treat your children. Stop with the bleeding hearts.0 -
The theme park is as much responsible for the weather as you are - ie, they aren't. On that basis, why should they have to refund £100 through no fault of their own? They have offered to keep their side of the contract and you have refused their offer. Whilst I have every sympathy with your situation, I really don't see why you think Gulliver's World are in the wrong here.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
