Charity shop tips for newbie?

  • If the shop smells of coriander leaves/overripe raspberries or a bit minty (the description varies, but you get the idea, it's a bit herbal & sweet) - walk out.

    That means they've got bedbugs.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

  • I love charity shops but find so many of them are expensive these days - when they are charging nearly the same amount for an Asda jumper that you can pay for a new one.

I have one charity shop nearby that I visit once or twice a week, and am always getting bargains from. The best I had was 50p handbags, buy one get one free - I got a genuine Radley bag, including the dog tag, and found a Calvin Klein clutch bag too.

not sure how true it is but I was told a lot of charity shops simply rely on breaking even or running at a small loss, not really designed to raise money, more the case of they are just there to have their exsistance known.
