Re: Credit Card - Life after bankruptcy 2005

Hi Guys,

I have had a c/card with Halifax for a while now to rebuild my credit since being declared bankrupt in June 2005. I was discharged in 2006 and have been making regular payments and trying to build up my credit history.

Equifax does not show my bankruptcy although, Experian does and also indicates me failing in red to keep with a loan agreement.

It has been four years, apart from paying my credit card off and paying off a loan is there anything else I can do to rebuild credit and will it always be on there?

Thanks

x

  • Your bankruptcy will fall off your credit file 6 years from the the actual date of your bankruptcy.

The bankruptcy will fall off after 6 years but if the file hasn't been cleaned up then there may be problems with later dated defaults further down the line or accounts that have not been marked settled or partially settled may be sold on further down the line too.
