price comparison SP Feb 2011 - what to ?
Options
Having looked through the forums I see there are a number of others on the SP fixed to 2011 deal (no suprise I guess), and I am struggling to find this on the comparison sites, I found it on one site which only seemed to find a £28 annual saving..
However, my concern is that I do not want to compare the current deal, which is about to end - but instead look at the future - does anybody know which deal I would revert to in March 2011 when the online fixed tariff ends - as surely this is the one I would need to compare with ? I can find nothing in my info from SP about what I would revert to - has anybody else got any info ?

Personally I would look to switch as soon as you can. I was on the SP Feb 2011 tariff and switched to Ovo on October 1st. For the record I had no problems with SP but thought it unlikely that I would be better off by waiting until Feb. I can't answer your main question about the deal you would revert to with SP but would be surprised if it was better than switching.0

I know its a difficult one as I was on the same tariff !
I have recently changed to EDF (Online S@ver Version 7 )going through at the moment (I hope)
The reason I decided to jump early was because it takes 4-8 weeks to change over and that would bring me near the end of January also EDF will not increase prices until March .
There was a £100 credit to your account from EDF and if you went through Quidco £80 cash back .This offer is not available now I am afraid but you can compare on the price comparison sites as there is one which compares that option you want
You also need to look at it to see if you want to fix it again! myself I found I was paying a lot to fix the price so decided against it0 -
They will probably offer you a new fixed price deal, which in my experience from 2009, will not be competitive.
If you decline this offer they will put you onto their standard prices; I would suggest that you look for deals now but don't forget to factor in cancellation charges if you leave SP before the contract end date.0 -
There was no cancellation charges on my contract with SP but its best to check .0

Thanks for the comments everyone, how do I find out if there is a cancellation charge ? there appear to be mixed comments from others on the same tariff, some seem to have a charge and others not - so I guess it may depend on when you signed up to the deal, as they perhaps introduced it later in the deal ?0

Yes, a cancellation charge was introduced at some point. I signed up around May / June I think and a charge wasn't included in the contract. Should be referred to in your paperwork if there is a charge, or email SP to check?0 -
Hi all,
I think I've found the original price information for this tariff as I remember it started for me on the 2nd Feb 2008 and wasn't exclusively an online tariff but a discount was available for switching to online.
Here it is:

I had a quick look through but couldn't find any details about a cancellation charge but had the feeling there was one.0 -
I have also been on it for a couple of years and there is definitely not a cancellation charge. I spoke to SP and they confirmed this. The very helpful lady told me to ring mid Feb to check what new offers there were and to compare prices.
In London, Energy 11 is still the cheapest for me according to the comparison sites.0 -

Problem is though that if you find in mid-Feb that SP don't have a competitive rate then the time needed to switch supplier will take you well past the end of your fix, probably into April. You will need to be careful what tariff SP put you on from the end of Feb.0 -
That is quite right Fairzo I applied to change at beginning of December and its now gone through !4-6 weeks if there is no problems0
