Silly Idea?

Hi all,
I could really do with a second opinion on this. Am sending cards out to OHs brothers/wives/kids this weekend. They don't swop presents as they aren't especially close - they get on fine when they see each other they just don't see each other very often and we live 200 miles away. I had been thinking that I would put some of those Thorntons christmas chocolate lollies in the cards for them as I always feel a little bad we don't get them anything and I know OH does as well and was thinking it was a good idea until yesterday when I started having doubts.
Now I'm just worrying that they might think it's a bit silly and childish and just emphasise the fact that we haven't got them a 'proper' present. If we were seeing them I would usually get them a big box of choccies but seems a bit silly to send through to post to them and I know they won't send us anything.
So if you got that in a card would you appreciate it or just think it was silly?

Not silly at all, podperson, it's the thought that counts! If they don't appreciate you taking the time to do something a little different then they ain't worth worrying about. Send them and feel good about yourself. Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0

Just a thought, won't they cost a bit more to post as it'll make the envelope deeper?0

Aww, thanks all, feeling a bit better now You know when you just have those days where you start doubting everything you do? *sighs*
Madmoys, think would have to take them to the post office as think the weight would probably be over as well - think they would be less than impressed if they had to go to the sorting office and pay to get their cards!0 -

It's a nice idea, but is there a chance that you could be emphasising the fact the they didn't get you anything?0

I think it is a really nice idea. I think the fact that they don't give presents emphsises the fact that you don't exchage gifts!! I wouldn't worry about it.
I often pop lottery tickets or scratch cards in cards as a little extra something and people are always very chuffed with them.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
tbh I'd stick with the status quo - Christmas is about reminding those you love that you care for them, not about feeling guilty because you didn't send them a lavish present.
We give to family if we see them, if not then they get a card and our best wishes.
They might see it as you having a dig at them for not giving presents, or send you something bigger which you'd then feel obliged to match next year.
Keep it as it is.;)
