Help - Item arrived from amazon ruined

I ordered books from Amazon and they arrived in a royal mail 'sorry for the damage' bag. When I opened it the books were totally ruined. Who do I ask for a refund - amazon or royal mail?

Get in touch with Amazon, as they have the contract with Royal Mail and only they can get compensation from themPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Last year i had some books delivered that were damaged that came from amazon. It was damage in transit. I had them delivered a total of 3 times before I got undamaged items!!!!
Amazon dealt with this perfectly on each occassion and even gave me a £5 voucher for the inconvenience.
So contact amazon. They will either arrange a courier to collect item or ask you to post it back and they will send you a new item.
Only problem is, I doubt it would get delivered in time for christmas unless you move quickly.
I think there is a section on the website where you can select this under returns or on your order page, not sure which.0 -
Phone Amazon and explain, plus make a point that they are intended as Christmas presents and you might find that they will get replacements straight out rather than wair for you to return the damaged books. All depends on who you talk too, but I had a similar problem last year with some damaged DVD's and a lovely Irish girl just took my word for it and released my replacement DVD's there and then.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

We had a book delivered from Amazon a few weeks ago that was badly damaged. Although we think that the book was actually sent out like that as the packaging was intact. We emailed the company & they told us to keep the book & they'd send another one the next day.0
