There are many scams and probably more common place, just bad deals. If you know someone who thinks that they are doing one of the better ones wouldnt it be best to ask them for contact details if putting badges on cards sounds like your kind of job?

There's a company near me that has home work packing nuts and bolts (or something - didn't pay too much attention lol). They're genuine but the waiting list for work was so long that they now refuse any new names for the list.

My friend's mum worked for a card company, she got my friend and me a job packing cards. We had to put the cards into cello bags, we were paid £5 per 1000. We had it down to a fine art - we each packed 1000 per hour :D £5 per hour, nine years ago for a home job. Not bad IMO.

I also packed labels, I had to put the string on them then pack them in boxes of 500. This was technically my Gran's job which I did, she delivered and got paid then she passed the money to me. I was 13 and you were supposed to be over 16.

Word of mouth is the only way to be sure it's not a scam - if any of the above jobs were advertised in the paper or online I wouldn't trust them at all. Ask your friend's MIL, she might be able to get you on their list for a job.

The worst one I remember someone getting caught on was the old 'earn extra income filling envelopes'.

The problem was, the content of the envelopes were invites for people to earn extra income stuffing envelopes.......

    And so it went on....

I've been looking around for this kind of wrk and drew a blank. I've ended up doing Bodyshop parties which isn't really working from home, but at least I can do it when i want to, and it fits in with my husband and kids. Every avenuse I explored for work from home offers seemed a bit fishy to me! It's a shame because I'm sure some of them are genuine, but as soon as I see 'minimum outlay' I'm put off. I went with Bodyshop because it's a company I knew of and trusted, but there was still an initial outlay. I'd love to hear if anone has found any work from home that isn't a scam.

the gumtree very ocasionally has things like this, although I suspect most are scams

filling envelopes can now be done by a machine, so theres little call for flexi home workers
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • My employer has used Motivity for mass mailings (not marketing - sending newsletters to pensioners who used to work for the company).

As I understand it, they have people who stuff the envelopes at home. I think you need to be fairly local to Hayes in Middlesex to work for Motivity, but there must be others like them
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
