Morning all, nice sunny day here....:pB&SC No. 298
Life`s Tragedy is that we get OLD too soon
and WISE too late!0 -
Hi all,
I'm in the process of looking into Bankruptcy, and as a pre-runner to that Voluntary Reposession.
I've only been on MSE for about a week, as I had been ignoring the situation instead of confronting it (I guess this is a common statement on here??)
Anyway, a brief history (that I will expand in my own thread in due course):
I'm 34, with wife (separated), and 5yr old son.
Have mortgage in my sole name, with ~ £12-15k equity. House is on the market, but very little movement. House is vacant (needed work to sell, and living with parents currently)
Have a number of small unsecured debts (1 of which is in my wifes name, with me as guarantor) some active some defaulted.
Also have ~£30k secured loan (Welcome Fin).
Finally I have a family debt with my mum of ~£50k from teen/20ties debt. I'd gotten into a bad rut with substance abuse / addiction, but that is behind me now, just the debt over my head.
I have my little one 50/50 with my wife, though in reality this is closer to 65/35 with me if I'm honest.
I don't have a car, only a m-bike which I use to get to work, hence living at parents as this is 3mins walk to my little boys Primary school. The house above is 10mls away, we were looking at moving closer before separation.
Both my wife & I are with new partners, and although tense at times (as you can imagine) we are pretty much amicable.
I've been searching around for all the info I can, and have spoken with Nat Debtline regarding the situ.
This has turned into a bit of an essay for a "Welcome" thread, so I'll leave it for now, and get to work on my main thread.
I'd just like to say thank you to those on here who's comments I've already read have made me realise I no longer need to be an Ostrich, and also to my partner who has been the metaphorical butt kicker to get me moving on the road to recovery.
Thanks in advance

Thanks.
I hope not to harass people too much, and find what I can with the Search button (use various forums, and know what it's like to have the same questions asked over & over)

Welcome DmmYou can never ask too many questions and as Dojo says there are plenty of helpful people here. You're not on your own and good to hear you have spoken to one of the free debt charities too.
