Can I return an item to Tesco if bought with "double up vouchers"?

morning guys...im having second thoughts about a gift i got my OH from Tesco for Christmas...I used £20 worth of clubcard vouchers,and got £40 off the total..I paid the extra £29.99 cash....I know Tesco are under no obligation to take the gift back,but in my experience they would normaly if bought by cash/debit card...but how would it work if the majority of it was paid for with Tesco vouchers?..."double value" ones at that?,thought id ask on here first before possibly embarrassing myself at Tesco..thanks for any advice...
PS..Edited to add,its a mobile phone,unopened box with security seal still intact.

I asked this question before I doubled up my vouchers cos I'd never done it before. I was told if I had to return an item I would only get half the amount back, i.e. the actual value of the voucher. As it happened the item wasnt suitable, so I returned it but exchanged it for something else & the cashier had to provide a new receipt which she put through the till as a cash payment. The replacement wasnt's suitable either (it was children's clothing) so I go the full value back in cash, so got the doubled up value back in cash - hope this makes sense!
