  • Hi,

I saw these and thought they looked really cool. I naturally wondered how to make them at home!

    I wondered about:
creme fraiche and smoked salmon trimmings
    Deseeded chopped tomatoes with basil
    Boursin
    roast ham and HM chutney
anything you'd put in a vol au vent

Not seen them, but pastry makes me think of vol au vent or quice, so any fillings for them would work :)

Pastry spoons sound intriguing! What are they exactly? I've not been up at Mr S in ages because of the bad roads.

I do make pastry cups in bun tins using two or three small squares of filo pastry layered with butter so that the points stick up, but I fill these with a beaten egg filling like a quiche and bake them to set the filling. I add roasted veg, bacon snippings, tiny bits of smoked fish, ham, chives, strong grated cheese etc. My mum used to make the same sort of thing but use shortcrust pastry for the base, though she never called them anything so smart as quiche, lol. She used to make one filling for them using beaten egg, grated cheese and baked beans, but we kids absolutely loved this combo and regarded them as party or picnic food.

I've never heard of pastry spoons - sound intriguing! Do you want sweet or savoury fillings? I found this http://www.grouprecipes.com/53207/puff-pastry-spoons-with-chocolate-ganache.html
